So it appears that yours truly is now an addict of cook and bake offs.
This coming weekend Cupcake Hussy will be competing in The Brooklyn Chocolate Experiment. I not telling what I'll be making but it WON'T be cupcakes. Since I'm competing under the name Cupcake Hussy, this should confuse quite a few folks...

Inspiration from the weirdest places
Wednesday night I had to attend a PTO (exactly like a PTA but without all the legal nonsense) meeting for the Family Fun Committee that I'm on.
I'd committed to the meeting and then realized that my husband wouldn't be home to watch the kids because he had a Rangers hockey game that night. (I'm a NY Rangers Hockey Widow) I would have to bring the kids with me if I wanted to attend.
I talked to the other members and it turned out that some of them might also have to bring their offspring.
I wound up at Wal-Mart searching for the Kiss M&M's (found them!) and while I was there, I grabbed a bunch of crayons and coloring books for the kids to keep them occupied during our meeting. As I was cruising the toy aisle this package of animals jumped out at me and without a second thought I tossed it in the basket.
Long story short my kids were the only ones at the meeting so the animals never got opened.
The boys finally noticed them in my bag this evening and ripped open the package and quickly grew tired of the poor creatures.
As I was scooping them up I started to really look at them and thought "WOW. These would be AWESOME for Cupcake Hussy!"
I got to work right away. Here is a sneak peak at the first one out of the pack. She's not done yet but I think she looks awesome so far.
If you have a fundraiser for your local zoo or heck, even if you want to just wear her to the park, she's the perfect date! I can't wait to see how she turns out.

Fierce & Sweet
We had such a good time! We didn't win but met some fantastic people and tasted some super good stuff. LOTS of talented folks in Brooklyn, NY!!!
I made 200 + Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese icing and about 150 chocolate Halloween lollipops. Lots of hard work but completely worth it.
Our cupcakes on display.
Click on the photos to enlarge them
The lovely winner of the Cupcake Hussy headband I'd made for the raffle. It's SO perfect in her hair!!

Quotation
“Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don't waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.”

Fierce and Sweet
If you need to know one thing about me, know this. I love giving back. I love doing what I can for as many as I can. Charity work makes me happiest. Knowing that I'm helping someone(s) who will benefit from my donation of time, money, energy, resources what have you does my soul good. In that vein I signed Cupcake Hussy up for Fierce and Sweet 1st annual bake off. http://fierceandsweet.com/ I'll be both baking for the competition and creating a really special item for the raffle they will be holding.
If you are in the NYC area, come out and do good.
Have some yummy baked goods and maybe win a Cupcake Hussy original!

BORN FREE
Here there be Tygers. The zoological portion of our soirée if you will. A sort of National Graphic edition for your locks.
Here you will find snakes, bats, rats, elephants (of the non pink variety) tigers, lions, and of course cows, sheep, goats, horses and an entire menagerie of other assorted domestic and non domestic animals.
If it flaps, flops, slithers, gallops, lopes, slides, ambles or just walks, if it neighs, moos, bleats, whinnies, trumpets, roars, hisses, chirps or remains quiet due to the lack of a voice box (ahem, Madame giraffe) odds are you will find it here…
____________________________________________________________________
Giraffes are the world's tallest mammals, thanks to their towering legs and long necks. A giraffe's legs alone are taller than many humans—about 6 feet (1.8 meters). These long legs allow giraffes to run as fast as 35 miles (56 kilometers) an hour over short distances and cruise comfortably at 10 miles (16 kilometers) an hour over longer distances.
"How helpless we are, like netted birds, when we are caught by desire!"
This sweet songbird has stopped for a brief rest on this purple headband. Snuggled into a soft brown marabou feather she is a total show stopper.
This little gal is so tweet! Sassy bold colors she sits on a tuft of electric yellow Marabou feather.
